Upstate, SC - The Upstate Homeless
Coalition has received the SC Rural Communities Compassion Project
grant. The $17, 800 grant is the first step to executing the 10-year
plan that was written by the S.C Homeless Coalition in 2005 and
distributed throughout South Carolina last year after a federal
mandate. Beginning May 1, the Upstate Homeless Coalition hired
Nanci Konsavage to execute the plan and build awareness about how
the plan will work in Spartanburg County.
Nanci is a Kansas State University graduate with a degree in community
planning. Past experience includes Community Development Specialist
for Spartanburg County and handling Federal Funds reporting on
homelessness and affordable housing. "My initiatives for the next 9
months is to build awareness of homelessness in Spartanburg County
and gain support from our local city and county government", says
Nanci. "There are an abundance of agencies in our county that can
help us provide much needed resources, ideas and answers that can
directly contribute to ending homelessness in Spartanburg County."
The South Carolina Center for Grassroots and Nonprofit Leadership

Grassroots and Nonprofit Leadership and the Institute on Family and
