GREENVILLE, SC - "You can wear it
again!" That's what the bride said when she forced you into that
hideous bridesmaid's dress. This is your chance. The Bridesmaid's
Ball is set to make its return to The Upstate on Saturday February
26th. While guests don't have to wear awful Bridesmaid's dresses
and men don't have to wear ugly suits to attend, those who do make
the event one of the most unique and fun galas of the year.
The Bridesmaid's Ball is the major fundraiser for the Upstate
Homeless Coalition and proceeds from the event are used to provide
affordable housing for homeless people, a long with training and
assistance to help them lead lives of independence and
self-sufficiency.
The Bridesmaid's Ball takes place on Saturday, February 26th at the
Galleries of Brian Brigham in Greenville from 8pm until 11pm. There
will be music, a silent auction, heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts.
Among the many silent auction items are a luxury box for a
Greenville Grrrowl hockey game, the use of a BMW, and a night at
the Westin-Poinsett. At a special point in the evening, one
fortunate (or unfortunate) attendee will be honored as the
recipient of the "Bridesmaid's Dress from Hell" award. Tickets for
the event are $40 per person, $75 per couple and individuals will
pay $50 at the door. To order tickets prior to the ball, go to
www.upstatehomeless.com or call Linda Wilson at 241-0462.
Sponsors of this year's Upstate Homeless Coalition's Bridesmaid's
Ball include: Palmetto Architect Group, The Greenville News,
Clearcheck, Spinx, Able Construction, WMYI Radio, Operations
Associates, Sit Design, Operation Technologies, Raby Construction,
Liberty Corp., Bella Magazine, and WB40-TV.
The third annual Bridesmaid's Ball promises to be a delightful and
humorous event, but the proceeds will attack a serious problem in
Upstate South Carolina. At any given time, there are approximately
3,500 people in SC who are homeless. There are 1,579 shelter beds
for them. UHC works in 13 Upstate counties to eliminate the problem
of homelessness by providing low-cost housing and training programs
to help these people become self-sufficient. To learn more about
UHC programs and the new Home at Last membership program, visit the
website at www.upstatehomeless.com.
